38th Houston Area Woodcarvers Show & Competition

The wood chips will be flying as members of the Houston Area Wood Carvers hold their annual expo of demonstrations, competitions and displays.

More than 70 artisans are scheduled to participate in the daylong event exhibiting their skills from whittling small intricate pieces to large chain-sawed sculptures. Novices and pros will compete in categories ranging from fish and birds to caricatures and functional works such as walking sticks and frames. A whittling contest will be held in both novice and open divisions.

The Houston Area Wood Carvers Show will be held beneath the giant Gray Expo at Traders Village from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There is no admission charge, and it’s just $3.00 per car to park. Traders Village - Houston is the largest flea marketplace and festival complex on the Texas Gulf Coast. The market is minutes northwest of downtown Houston on North Eldridge near Highway 290. For more information call 281-890-5500.
