Native American Indian Championship Pow Wow

October 13th-14th 2012

Traders Village will host its Second Annual Championship Pow Wow on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14 , 2012. This native American Pow Wow will include colorful tribal dance contest, an arts and crafts show, visiting with old friends making new ones, honoring ceremonies and much more and is presented by the DFW Inter-Tribal Association.

Several hundred Native Americans, representing dozens of tribes from across the United States, will take part in this celebration of their culture and heritage. The drums will beat for the dancers in full regalia of feathers, buckskin, bells and beadwork competing for prize money and awards in many different dance categories. Spectators will be amazed by the precision and showmanship that even the youngest competitors display in their dancing. Participants will range in age from toddlers to grandmothers in their 80’s.

Artists, craftsmen and traders from all over the country will showcase their wares and talents at the Arts & Crafts Show and Sale under the giant Brown Expo. The arts & crafts sale will be open from 10:00 a.m. to sundown both days.

ARTS & CRAFTS DEALERS CAN WIN FREE GAS
All registered Arts & Crafts Dealers will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win free gas money. There will be 14 envelopes, in amounts ranging from $20 to $100, given away for a total of $500! The drawing is Sunday morning at approximately 9:30 am. Must be present to win! DANCERS CAN WIN FREE GAS
All registered adult dancers who have traveled at least 200 miles will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win FREE gas money. There will be 10 chances to win $50 cash to help pay for gas. $500 total! Drawings will be held throughout the day on Sunday and you must be present to win! The Indian food booth will serve authentic Native American foods all weekend long. Everyone, spectators and competitors alike, can enjoy authentic Native American fry bread, Indian tacos and more.
