In Texas, Mexican Americans celebrate the Mexican national holiday referred to as fiestas patrias, also called Diez y Seis de Septiembre. They began celebrating fiestas patrias to reinforce their cultural links with each other and with Mexico. They included festivities that involved special music, songs, dances, native cuisine, costumes, and homage to folk heroes. We will celebrate with wonderful music and it is absolutely free. The program will begin at noon until 6pm.
Bring your lawn chairs and come early. Bring your dancing shoes and maybe there will be enough room to dance a little.
